MANHATTAN CVB VIDEO WINS AWARD!

Imagemakers, of Wamego, and S&N Design, of Manhattan, teamed with the Manhattan Convention and Visitors Bureau to create an award winning video. The video, which features Manhattan’s location in the Flint Hills, as well as its shopping, entertainment, education and economic strengths, has been named a Telly Award recipient.

In addition to Imagemakers and S&N Design, this year’s winners include Turner Studios, Nickelodeon, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts and Time Warner Cable.

“We are thrilled to have partnered with S&N Design and the Manhattan CVB to produce this video,” Dan Holmgren, creative director for Imagemakers, said.

Because Imagemakers has proven experience in the creation of videos, as well as films, it was tapped to help in strategic planning for the video, directing the emotional appeal to those looking for a retirement home, second home or planning a move to Manhattan.

“We wanted to produce a video that truly highlighted the best of this area, featured Manhattan’s strong economy and the wide variety of entertainment, shopping and outdoor opportunities available in this area,” Mary Foster, project manager for Imagemakers, said.

“Imagemakers and S&N Design were so easy to work with. We really appreciate their expertise and vision as we helped tell the story of Manhattan – a young, vibrant and inviting community,” said Karen Hibbard, director for Manhattan CVB.

“This was a very fun and yet challenging project for us. But with Dan’s background as a movie producer most of this video was shot in a more cinematic style than another agency might do,” Foster said.

“The videography was shot over the course of a year and features over 100 locations. We also enlisted the help of many volunteer actors,” said Steve Lee, creative director for S&N Design.

Different versions of the video have been created for different audiences. Combined they have already been viewed over 10,000 times.

Graphic Design USA Selects S&N Design as a Winner in Annual Design Competition

Editors Recognize the “Best and Brightest” in National Design Competition

Manhattan, KS (January 5, 2011)—S&N Design, a Manhattan award-winning full-service marketing communications agency, announced its selection as Winner in the 2010 American Graphic Design Awards competition. The American Graphic Design Awards is Graphic Design USA’s flagship competition open to the graphic arts community. Running for its fourth decade, the competition received over 9,000 entries filling 23 categories from print and packaging to Internet and interactive design from advertising agencies, corporate and institutional designers, design firms and other media outlets throughout the country.

Nancy Raleigh, partner of S&N Design, said the team was honored by the recognition. “It’s always an exciting experience to be considered among some of the most creative minds in the industry and we are humbled to be recognized over the thousands of other entries by Graphic Design USA,” said Raleigh. “It’s a rewarding experience to be praised by such an established and respected publication—but the real honor came in the ability to create an effective campaign for Manhattan Regional Airport to draw attention to its regional service with American Eagle.”

S&N Design received honors in two divisions; one, in the Advertising category for its efforts with the Manhattan Regional Airport to create print advertising seen in various print media outlets in the region. Steve Lee, partner, and Michelle Erpelding, graphic designer, were integral in the creation of the campaign. Other contributors to the project were Briana Vogel, graphic designer, and Cathy Mores, owner of Cathy Mores Photography.

The other category in which S&N Design received recognition was in Multimedia + Broadcast Design, completing a website and broadcast commercials for the Manhattan Regional Airport in collaboration with Wamego, KS-based Imagemakers, Inc., and Manhattan Advertising Agency. Together, potential fliers have the ability to learn about Manhattan Regional Airport, schedules, services, fare searches and bookings, and the capability to compare prices between Manhattan and Kansas City airports. The website may be viewed at www.flyMHK.com. Additionally, the winning television commercials are currently airing on local TV stations and may be seen on YouTube.

Gordon Kaye, publisher of GDUSA, said this year’s winning entries represented the best in graphic design and its ability to communicate effectively. “These are professionals who have produced work that is, generally speaking, more esthetically pleasing than ever – cleaner, more refined, more tasteful – fluent, direct and intelligent in promoting the brand and communicating the message,” Kaye wrote in the announcement of the award winners.
