WEB SPECIALIST

We are looking for a CSS/HTML Web Specialist with 2-3 years of experience to define, evolve, and maintain client websites. We are seeking a creative, self-starter with strong attention to detail and quality. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual with a proven ability to work autonomously when necessary. Definition of major responsibilities and functions:


1. Collaborate with designers & art/creative directors to create production-quality XHTML, CSS and JavaScript code for use in content management systems, web applications (including eCommerce and electronic software distribution) and other site templating engines.


2. Contribute to the overall cohesiveness, functionality and appearance of website elements such as navigation tools, page layout templates, images, and Flash applications.


3. Work with adjacent technical teams (front and back-end developers) to help enforce styles, provide advocacy for web standards and ensure contemporary best practices.


4. Code and evolve HTML email that renders properly in a variety of web-based email clients and several versions of Microsoft Outlook.


5. Responsible for ensuring website cross-browser compatibility, link integrity and overall quality.


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • URL samples required, and a web project portfolio for review
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience writing high level CSS, and clean HTML & XHTML markup
  • Knowledge of contemporary best practices in web standards, web design, and emerging web technologies
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines
  • Exposure to formal usability testing and knowledge of usability principles
  • Familiarity with Java, Ruby on Rails or PHP
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing and general Web site traffic metrics (using tools such as Google Analytics)
  • Excellent communication, project management and problem solving abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver
  • Excellent client service and customer service skills
  • Ability to identify and streamline routine processes in a fast-paced environment while working under tight deadlines
  • Ability to optimize graphics for the web
  • Experience working with UNIX and Mac platforms

Other (Recommended but not required)

  • Experience with Ajax, XML and JavaScript/jQuery
  • Experience with Flash and the use of Flash as a video delivery mechanism
  • Experience working on corporate Web sites
